Our new WellProtek® Ultra annular design that significantly increases high temperature sealing performance compared to an industry-standard design.

The Ultra utilizes an innovative insert design and proprietary FFLTECH elastomer to enhance the performance of the packing unit in elevated temperatures. It is compatible with standard annular style BOP units in oil & gas and geothermal drilling applications.

 

Product Description

WellProtek® is FFL's line of API-16A licensed annular packing units. All units are Factory Acceptance Tested (FAT) before shipment, stamped with the official API Monogram® and shipped with full documentation in compliance with API-16A requirements.

Our WellProtek® units utilize proprietary elastomers, products of FFLTECH's material development and engineering expertise. Through extensive testing, our compounds show superior durability and performance.

Test Description

Factory Acceptance Testing

The Factory Acceptance Test includes testing on pipe to low (200-300 psi) and high (5000 psi) wellbore pressure, Complete Shut-off (CSO) test to 2500 psi wellbore pressure and drift testing within 30 minutes.

Temperature Testing

Verifies the performance of non-metallic seals and molded sealing assemblies used as pressure-controlling and/or pressure-containing during exposure to low (40°F) and high (350°F) temperatures

Fatigue Testing

Simulates closing and opening the blowout preventer once per day and wellbore pressure testing at 200 psi to 300 psi and full rated working pressure once per week, for one year of service. Target 52 API cycles (7 open/close cycles = 1 API cycle)

Sealing Characteristics Testing

This test determines the piston closing pressure necessary to maintain a seal as a function of wellbore pressures up to full rated working pressure of the blowout preventer.

Stripping Life Testing

Determines the ability of the annular packing unit to maintain control of wellbore pressure while stripping drill pipe and tool joints through the closed packing unit without exceeding a leak rate of 4 liters/min. (1gal/min).

Continuous Operation Temperature Testing

This test determines the ability of the annular packing unit to maintain a wellbore pressure seal after repeated closings and openings at the continuous elevated rated temperature and rated working pressure.
